Flying

Flying is often the most convenient and least expensive way to get to your Key West vacation.  Several airlines including American, United, Delta, Continental, and US Air are linked with flights to Key West International Airport.

Delta now offers jet service to Key West from Atlanta, Tampa and Orlando, and US Airways flies jets in from Ft Lauderdale. These are our first all-jet services into Key West. 

We find that checking on the Internet travel vacation services like travelocity.com, priceline.com, orbitz.com, hotwire.com, expedia.com, and lastminute.com is the fastest and easiest way to find inexpensive fares to Key West. Several of these Internet services now have European sites, like expedia.co.uk for international travelers.

Taxis

The airport in Key West is just ten minutes from Island House. There are always taxis at the airport and the fare to Island House is about $12.00 for one person, or $7.50 per person for larger groups.

Fly/Drive

Fly/Drive is the other option. You can fly into either Miami International or Ft. Lauderdale International and either rent a car or take a shuttle van for the drive to Key West.

Keys Shuttle

The Keys Shuttle has 6 trips daily each way between both Miami International and Ft Lauderdale and Key West. This door to door service takes just under 4 hours between MIA and Key West and another half hour to Ft Lauderdale. Prices and schedules are at floridakeysshuttle.com.

Car Rental

If you rent a car in Miami or Ft Lauderdale, you should allow about three and a half hours to drive from Miami, and four hours from Ft. Lauderdale. The first third of the drive is on the Florida Turnpike (busy and uninteresting!) but the final 100 miles on the Overseas Highway is a beautiful journey over the many small islands and bridges that link Key West with the mainland of Florida.   Most visitors say that the Overseas drive is something they're glad they did once!

Directions from Miami and Fort Lauderdale

• Follow signs for the Florida Turnpike South to Key West.
• Follow the Turnpike to the end, and then follow the signs for US 1 and Key West.
• Follow US1 into Key West.  As you enter Key West, follow US1 (following signs for the Historic Seaport.)
• At Palm Avenue (marina on the right, Shell Station on the left) turn right into Palm Avenue (again following the sign for the Historic Seaport.)  Follow Palm Avenue over the bridge (where Palm Avenue becomes Eaton Street) and to the second stop light which is White Street.
• Turn left into White Street. Island House begins in the middle of the block. The entrance closest to the Front Desk is just a few feet into the small lane on the right in the middle of the block.

Parking

There is a '15 Minute' parking space on White Street in front of the first Island House building.  We suggest you park there and come into the Front Desk to register. We can then help you find a permanent place to park.
